A few things to do on the isle of Aran.

The craggy south west coast of Ireland is one of the most picturesque and accessible in the world. One of it’s most beautiful parts is the simple and rugged beauty of the Aran isles in the approach to Galway bay. They are well worth a visit and there is much to see and do on them. One of the things they are most known for is the creation of the forever stylish Aran Sweaters, like the ones that can be seen at https://www.shamrockgift.com/aran-sweaters, but there’s more to the islands than this.

  1. Just relax. This is not a place of hustle and bustle. Although the islanders have always been an industrious lot, the visitor should take the time to sit and relax, chat to the friendly locals and just watch the world go by.

  1. Take a lot of walks. The islands are small but they are blessed with nice quiet lanes for the ramblers. The scenery is fantastic with the craggy limestone and sheer cliffs giving way to a perfect view of the Atlantic.
  2. The Castle of O’Brien on Inish Orr. This is one of the most picturesque and romantic ruins that you could ever wish to see.

And don’t forget to have some scones and Irish porter cake, after some locally caught mackerel as well!
