Ways That Schools Can Keep Children and Staff Safe

All children who go to school should feel safe and secure when doing so, and their parents should also feel that when they drop them at school their children will be safe. Making the school environment a place where all those that are in it, staff and students alike can feel secure is essential, and there are lots of ways that schools can do this.

Checking Visitors – Any visitor who comes to the school should always have to report to reception where they will need to say what they are visiting for and be signed in. A visitor sign in system like this https://www.ofec.co.uk/visitor-management-system-uk is a great way of keeping track of everybody who is on site and ensuring that you have a record of all visitors to the school.

Protecting Confidential Data – The data itself that a school keeps also needs to be protected – this includes personal information about children, as well as documents relating to staff members such as CVs and DBS checks. This should all be stored somewhere that has restricted access and can be locked away securely.

Using Security Features – A school should not be easily accessible to unauthorised personnel, and it is important that it is not possible for any person to just be able to wander onto the school grounds and into the building without being checked. Features like security fencing and doors help to prevent this from happening and keep those inside the school safe.
