Indoor climbing wall group sessions are organised activities, suitable for a variety of occasions, such as birthday parties, corporate team building sessions and group friends outings.
What Types of Group Session Exist
There are basically 3 types of group sessions offered by climbing walls: Birthday parties for the under 16’s, Corporate team building sessions and casual group bookings of friends & family for various occasions.
How Booking and Numbers Work
A minimum number of participants applies to group bookings and this will usually be around 6-8 people for the standard booking. For larger groups some climbing walls may have a maximum number of participants allowed for group bookings. For some climbing walls full payment is required at time of booking and this may be by credit/debit card over the phone. Others may only require a deposit to secure a booking.
What Instruction Is Included
On arrival the group are introduced to the safety rules of climbing, and given a full explanation of how to wear a climbing harness safely. They are then given a 20-30 minute introduction to basic climbing techniques, and then left to put what they have learned into practice.
Managing Mixed Abilities
The instructor for the day will be able to adapt to the different abilities within your group by sending the more experienced climbers off on more difficult routes whilst the beginner will be able to complete easier coloured routes.
What to Wear and Bring
This is why climbers wear close-fitting clothing such as joggers or leggings, and a fitted top. You can also hire climbing shoes from the wall. For Climbing Wall Bristol, see https://www.270climbing.com/climbing/bristol/.
An indoor group session is a great way for groups of people with little or no climbing experience to have fun climbing together.
