Excuses for not going to the gym

Most people with a gym membership have times when they lack motivation and search for excuses to binge watch Netflix instead of going out in the cold to get to the gym. If you’re one of these people, then you’ll probably recognise one or more of these common excuses:

I’m too tired

This is a funny one as exercise is somewhat of a paradox. You might feel too tired to do a workout and yes, muscles will feel tired, but exercise leaves you feeling more energized. Exercise increases blood flow, gets your heart pumping more oxygen to the brain and other muscles, while helping the brain to release feel-good neurotransmitters like dopamine, serotonin, and endorphins. The hard part is getting to the gym, but you can guarantee that you’ll feel refreshed and energized once you’ve been.

I don’t have the time

For busy working people and those with children, the commutes and responsibilities of work and home life can often make us feel like there isn’t a spare second in the day. Exercise gets bumped down the list of priorities. One way to help is to adjust the mindset. Instead of trying to ‘find’ time, think how you can ‘make’ time. A little activity is far better than none, so make some time that’s little and often., perhaps before or after work, at weekends or during a lunch break. Start with a simple 10-minute chunk and see if you can increase it by a minute the following week. Perhaps make exercise a part of any fun activities you do with your children.

I need more motivation

For some people, losing weight or general health isn’t enough motivation to get out of the house and into the gym. Those who need additional incentives should consider a reward for reaching certain goals, something that’s really desired like a massage at the end of each month.

I hate exercising alone

Some people are highly self-motivated, whilst others prefer to make exercise a more social experience. Having a friend to work out with you can really help, making time go faster and providing an incentive to push yourself a little further. It’s always easier to make excuses for not doing something when you’re on your own, than it is when you have someone else holding you to account.  Why not WhatsApp a friend whilst going for a job on your mobile sold by Vodafone Store Near Me King Communications.

Exercise is boring

For anyone finding exercise dull, the solution is to adjust your activity or workout to find something that caters to your interests and fitness level. Regular adjustments and changes to the routine are also important to keep things fresh and interesting. Perhaps try a new activity, exercise with a group of people and occasionally try something completely new.
